Seal Usage FAQs

Answer: The Ready Rating Seal is a grey rectangle with the words “Ready RatingTM Member [year]” and “readyrating.org” as well as the Canadian Red Cross Society Logo. Members can use this seal, provided it contains all the above components visible together.

The “Canadian Red Cross Society Logo” is the Red Cross emblem plus the phrase “Canadian Red Cross” and/or “Croix-Rouge canadienne”, as set out in CRC’s graphic standards. Members are never permitted to use the Canadian Red Cross Society Logo alone.

The “Red Cross Emblem” consists of a red cross on a white background and is universally recognized as a symbol of protection and neutrality. Members are never permitted to use the Red Cross Emblem alone. Its use is legislated by the Geneva Conventions Act, the Trade Marks Act, and the Canadian Red Cross Society Act.

Answer: Unauthorized usage of the Ready Rating Seal is a violation of the Membership Agreement. We would expect that you would immediately correct any unauthorized usage. However, if it is not corrected or is a repeat violation, the Red Cross will terminate your membership.

Answer: The seal must be used in accordance with the graphics standards, which can be found on the Web site and with the other limitations described in your Membership Agreement. Additionally, while the seal indicates that you are committed to increasing your level of preparedness, it does not indicate or provide any guarantee of safety or survivability of a structure or business continuity in the event of an emergency or disaster; any usage that indicates this is strictly forbidden. Finally, as noted earlier, the seal is only valid until the end of the calendar year shown on the seal, and usage without membership renewal is prohibited. The full seal must be visible and usage of the Canadian Red Cross Society Logo and/or the Red Cross Emblem alone is prohibited.
